Older Women?

Titus 2:3-4 "The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things, that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children."

As I was giving some simple advice to a young mother several weeks ago, the thought occurred to me, "this is so cool, it seems more and more lately that I'm passing along some pearls of wisdom that I've learned to younger women around me, just like that older woman-younger woman scripture said I would".  Then my heart skipped a beat, and I thought, "Oh my, I am an official member of the older women club!"

As I thought more about this, I realized that all of us women are...both...older and younger!  We are always in a state of either learning from an older woman or passing along what we've learned to younger women.

Whew!  At 56 years old, I am still a younger woman, and always will be!  How?  I cherish the wisdom of godly women who have gone before me in motherhood, in marriage, in ministry, in business, and in my social circles.  I learn from their mistakes, their triumphs, their example.

The bonus?  I am also an older woman and always will be!  I get to pass along what I've learned.  So many of us women don't want to share our mistakes, and all those rough times that made us the victorious women in Christ we are today. We think that the better example would be to appear to have it all together.  Forget that, the younger women in our lives need something more to work with!

Hey, I don't mind at all being in the older women club, I'm surrounded by great company, and life just keeps getting more wonderful with each passing year!  As for the little extra few pounds and a few new wrinkles here and there...I have a scripture for them too, "Look not at the things which are seen!"  2 Cor. 4:18
