What is Water Baptism? (Immersion)
A.  The immersion of a believer in water symbolizes the complete renewal and change in the believer’s life and testifies to the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the way of salvation.
Romans 6: 3-6 - "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that hence-forth we should not serve sin. (KJV)
Colossians 3: 1-4 - "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (NIV)

B.  Water, apart from personal commitment to Christ, makes no difference in the life of anyone. Baptism should come after conviction of sin, repentance of sin, confession of Christ as Lord and Savior.
Acts 2:38-39 - Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call.”(NIV)
